Member of the Month: Philadelphia Rotary Club
/Forget the old stereotypes about Rotary. In Center City, the Philadelphia Rotary Club is a diverse group of professionals making a positive impact on the city and around the world.
Rotary brings together people who want to do more than exchange business cards—they want to roll up their sleeves and give back. Whether it’s mentoring students, preparing meals, or donating $30,000 each year to local nonprofits, Philadelphia Rotary provides meaningful ways to serve.
The club warmly welcomes members of the CCBA to attend meetings, join volunteer projects, and discover shared values around service, leadership, and community.
Voice actor Lisa Leonard, a longtime Rotary member, sees opportunities for collaboration between the two organizations. “When I moved to Philadelphia, I didn’t know a soul. Rotary gave me instant community and opportunities to volunteer,” says Leonard. “I think a lot of CCBA members would find the same.”
Retired corporate manager John Schueler agrees. After relocating from coastal South Carolina, he joined Rotary to make connections and learn about his new city. “As a new retiree, I wanted to engage with my community and do some volunteering. I got both from joining Rotary—and a great group of friends, too,” he says.
Monthly Rotary meetings at the Pyramid Club feature engaging speakers and networking opportunities —and are open to guests. Non-members are also welcome to monthly Rotary socials, dinners, and service projects. Schueler, who will begin his term as Philadelphia Rotary President in July, encourages CCBA members to learn more at www.PhiladelphiaRotary.org.
